MY SPECIALTIES

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

I have more than twenty-five years of experience working as a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in agency settings and in private practice. As an individual therapist, I strive to provide a confidential and non-judgmental space so that my clients can develop insight into their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Individual counseling can be used to address a wide variety of concerns. Ultimately, it focuses on helping each person achieve greater inner peace and implement desired changes.

ADDICTION COUNSELING

I provide addiction counseling to help clients overcome substance abuse and develop a healthy, sober lifestyle. I have particular experience dealing with Opiate Use Disorder (OUD) and with helping patient use medications like methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone effectively as they identify and change addictive behaviors. I also offer therapy for individuals who have family members who are actively abusing opiates.

DEPRESSION & ANXIETY

I offer counseling for individuals who are struggling with depression and anxiety. My goal is to help clients develop coping skills, increase self-awareness, and improve their overall well-being. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy to help patients learn about their core beliefs about themselves and to gain insight so they can assess how much control they have over their choices and circumstances and then apply realistic problem solving strategies to their respective challenges.

RELATIONSHIP SUPPORT

A large part of individual therapy involves dealing with difficult relationships. I specialize in relationship counseling, with an emphasis on conflict resolution. Whether you're struggling with communication issues, trust issues, or simply feeling disconnected from your partner, family members, friends, or co-workers, I can help you navigate these challenges and achieve more positive, balanced and rewarding relationships.

ANGER MANAGEMENT

Are you struggling with anger management and finding it hard to manage your emotions? I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) to help individuals identify perceived injustices that challenge their core values and learn new thought, behavior, and communication strategies to manage their anger and improve their relationships.

TRAUMA, STRESS, GRIEF AND LOSS

I specialize in working with adults who have experienced emotional, physical or sexual trauma or who are dealing with high levels of stress. Not surprisingly, individuals often encounter intense feelings of grief in response to these challenges. I use a combination of mindfulness techniques, relaxation and resiliency training, and trauma-focused therapy to help my clients reduce symptoms and improve their quality of life.

MONEY MANAGEMENT

I have worked extensively with adults who struggle with money management to help them develop a better understanding of their financial choices and patterns. My approach focuses on helping individuals identify family of origin issues which  contribute to their spending behaviors, on examining emotional stress responses related to financial tasks, and on expanding patients' money management strategies so they can change unhelpful money beliefs and behaviors.

ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER

Attention Deficit Disorder can make it difficult for you to focus, complete tasks, and manage your time effectively. But there are ways to cope and live a fulfilling life. As a therapist who is familiar in working with ADD, I can help you develop coping strategies, explore the prudent use of medication, and learn cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to help you succeed.
